Our Sky Project

The Our Sky project, by Bei Hu, a professor here at WashU is an immersive exhibition project that uses the sky, and photography to connect people from around the world. In the project, Bei asked individuals to send her pictures of their sky, as well as audio messages narrating something related to their sky. I think a huge part of this project that Bei touches on is an aspect of cultural hegemony that emerges. The idea of technology, art, and exhibition design come together to notate an experience that breaks cultural boundaries. I think this project is important to me to consider when thinking about the cultural siginificance of my exploration. Specifically looking at how my education in the West can transfer over to students, and kids in Nigeria.
